Keith Holmes works on the Hakai Institute geospatial technology team and helps Hakai researchers with their mapping needs on many different projects. Keith has spent much of his life on a boat having grown up in Port McNeill and working in Rivers Inlet for five years. You can now find him at the Hakai Institute office in downtown Victoria.
He received his MSc at the University of Victoria in geography; his research used remote sensing and climate models to forecast biodiversity metrics in British Columbia. Prior to joining Hakai, Keith worked for three years on the Canada Iraq Marshlands Initiative to monitor and study the environment of Southern Iraq.
