Erin Rechsteiner leads sea otter research and is involved with our MarineGEO activities. Her research focuses on sea otter foraging behavior and population growth, including ecosystem linkages with nearshore communities. She also collaborates with the 100 Islands project to investigate how sea otters may indirectly contribute to terrestrial biodiversity via kelp subsidies.
Erin is a PhD student at UVic, and holds an MSc from UBC and a BSc from VIU. She has worked as a biologist since 2006, and prior to that led outdoor expeditions on the BC coast.
